  • Final layering came courtesy of towels, a $30 mirror from Homesense and one of our favorite craft people - Liz Brownrigg, or Gypsy Potter (http://www.gypsypotter.net) as she's better known. We absolutely adore the beautiful vessels she so lovingly throws. Decorated with naturally shed horse hair (bedded into the surface before firing) each piece is unique and arrestingly gorgeous.

I know it’s a bit late... I am still riding on "Cloud Nine" from this day... Plus, I participated in another event the weekend after this... oh ya, and work a full time job in between...I am sure I will sleep at some point :)...

This was the most incredible, mind-blowing, blessed event!!! Not only did Colin and Justin purchase what was left of my Horse Hair Raku pieces, they purchased some wine goblets, tweeted my website and will be showcasing my Horse Hair Raku on one of their shows!  Ask, Believe, RECEIVE!!!

Since Colin and Justin have tweeted/FB about my pieces... I have received a lot of inquiries for more orders... it is great to have so much interest in my art... I put my Heart and Soul into each piece, so it is very gratifying when someone else enjoys it too.

Thank you Colin & Justin for you appreciation of my work and your publicity of the pieces and linking my website... I look forward to showing you new pieces in the New Year... I have BIG ideas, so lots of testing going on... Stay Tuned!!!

Local artist Liz Brownrigg has recently brought a number of horse hair pottery pieces in the gallery's Gift Shop. As its name suggests, horse hair is actually used in this ceramic technique to create linear designs by searing the hair directly on the hot surface of pottery being taken out of the kiln.

In the last few years, Liz has steadily gained more exposure for her talent, being featured in the local media, Toronto Star, Colin & Justin's Cabin Pressure - Cottage  Life TV and many more. Just recently, she had the opportunity to cross the Atlantic Ocean to exhibit her work in both England and Italy.Type your paragraph here.
